• The art in this unit parallels what was happening in Europe for the most part but also includes distinctly American ideas. Discuss how the works from this week compare and contrast to concurrent European movements.

• Choose a work from the American art wing and discuss how it reflects a new and rapidly changing country.  Possible topics include military history, manifest destiny, and new experiments in democracy.
